Well, I ate it. And it’s probably best described as an acquired taste.

The texture’s quite nice. Not as stringy or tough as actual meat (as far as I know, it’s been about 4 years) but firm enough to be pleasant. Unfortunately, it tastes of… wheat. I didn’t know wheat had such a distinctive and unavoidable taste, but it does. It isn’t particularly nice.

Nonetheless, I still have a can of mock chicken and one of mock abalone in the cupboard, so perhaps I’ll acquire it after all.
